Why this matters
Cash flow is working capital. When a smaller supplier waits unnecessarily for money it has already earned, the cost travels into hiring, investment, wages and the resilience of the wider supply chain.
What should change
Publish standard terms in plain language, give suppliers a clear route to resolve disputed invoices, measure actual payment performance and make senior leaders accountable for persistent late payment.
A practical commitment
This petition asks buyers to treat payment performance as part of responsible procurement. It does not ask companies to waive legitimate disputes. It asks them to resolve those disputes quickly and pay undisputed invoices when promised.
